Lavender

Lavendula officinalis

Seemingly available to buy everywhere, in soaps, and even as an ice cream flavor, lavender is a favorite scent to many regions around the world. This herb has built a profound relationship with human relaxation, extending towards centuries old. It cools the body’s fluids when absorbed, and can promote easier circulation. There are no known contraindications with taking this herb except to hold off consuming it during an early phase of pregnancy as it is a stimulant for the uterus.

Topically this is a popular essential oil picked by my clients as an esthetician. In facial massage, I perform a few techniques that help release tension stored in the temples, lavender-infused grapeseed oil is a wonderful tool to accelerate the releasing of their stress.

Wonderfully cooling to the entire body, I love drinking lavender teas on hot days, nights, or as a head-to-toe refresher after a particularly stressful week. It tastes as it smells, that’s the best way I can describe lavender’s soft, fruity, floral sensory experience.
